Yeah man, I just want to stop having my soul squeezed out of me like a grape in the name of the all mighty dollar.

Eyes in the sky have you under control.

The inner light collapses, in the blackest of the black holes.

A sacrifice of body and soul.

To the great Leviathan, that swallows us whole!

please point me to the society that doesn’t need people to work in order to function. lmao what is this even supposed to mean? capitalism successfully enables people to grow old instead of dying in their 20s?

It’s not a matter of doing work, more who you work for. If we all worked for each other and collectively decided what to produce instead of the capitalist class we’d all maybe decide to work 20 hours less a week if that means a small minority of people didn’t get jets, yachts, mansions etc.

While I’m being extremely cynical with this meme, I do have a point, which I’ll discuss below:

My point is that Captialism should be the means to an end, not the end itself. Without us striving for something, or working towards something, we’d still be a bunch of lazy masturbating cavemen. We set ourselves up for labour, and send our kids off to school for two decades so they can sell their labour. Many of our choices are driven by money, an much of our would-be free time is consumed by work. It’s systemically fucked up.

Touching on the ‘means to an end’ argument, again, I’d wager that the system could shift to 20 hrs of work a week or something like that, and still sustain itself, while offering a better human experience. Imagine what humanity could do with an extra 20 hrs a week to create, bond with friends, etc.

Overly optimistic? Likely, but the current system seems to be ratcheting down on people, and trying to squeeze more out of them.
