Played A short hike yesterday and it was great. Short indeed, but very casual, nice and relaxing.
sad there’s no visions of mana community here but i haven’t put it down since i got it on thursday. it runs great on the steamdeck :)
- Bloons TD 6: this plays great on the deck, especially with the touchscreen
- Euro Truck Simulator 2: mostly just got it as it was super cheap and I saw some of my friends already have it
- Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy: looked super fun when I saw my friends play, but I don’t really like the controls on the deck
For anyone looking for some other nice games for the deck, I can heavily recommend:
- Stray
- Dave The Diver
- Celeste
Dome keeper. It’s a really fantastic game.
How have I not heard of this game? It looks awesome.
Stray
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Disco Elysium
Dark Souls Remastered (don’t think it was even on sale, but I have never played a souls game and was told this was a good place to start)
Basically a bunch of big hits that I never got around to. I’m starting with Stray, it’s relaxing and fun. I played a little Dark Souls, but I need to come back to that when I have more time to focus.
I was also looking at Death must Die. I played the shit out of Vampire Survivors, and I’ve heard DMD is more of the same.
Last big StamDeck game for me was Hades 2. Loved the original and 2 was just as fun. I know it’s not fully complete, but I unlocked everything available and upgraded most of the gear all the way. I can’t wait for the full release.
I got an OLED the other day and splurged hard during the summer sale.
I got Stray and Little Kitty, Big City to show off to my cat-loving GF, and for me I got Dave the Diver, Sifu, and Babu is You. Also picked up Hollow Knight for good measure, but have yet to start it. 9 Sols, Mullet Madjack, Warhammer Boltgun, Baldurs Gate 3, and Return of the Obra Dinn all on my wishlist.
I bought two games:
- The farmer was replaced - a simple Idle game, where you need to use a Python like code to automate a farming drone with farming hat that is doing the farming for you and the complexity of the tasks is increasing progressively. This game is in early access and has no discount but the price is 7€, so hardly breaking the bank.
- European Truck Simulator 2 - because it was just 2€ and it looks chill, even though I am not much into car racing games.
I got Euro Truck Simulator aswell, for the same reason lol
I bought Tunic and Crosscode.
I jumped straight into Tunic, and am having a great time. I recently finished Outer Wilds and was wanting another knowledge based progression game.
Crosscode is absolutely amazing and is one of my favorite games ever.
Psychonauts 2. Was a huge fan of the original on PS2 and I can’t believe it’s taken me years to try the sequel. The animation, level design, and writing are all at the level of quality and creativity that I wanted to see videogames progress to some day when I was a kid. This is a playable DreamWorks film.
Imo they play more as playable Tim Burton movies lol. I love the games so much.
Bought Dicey Dungeons as a good one to play on Deck. I can run it with the TDP on the GPU set to 3w, which increases the battery lifespan impressively, while still running great! Plus the game itself lends itself well to the deck I’d say.
I bought Baldur’s Gate 3, Deep Rock Galactic and Undertale.
Right now, I am trying to get into Mass Effect 3, but I think I need a little break from it after completing ME2.
The new season of DRG has suckered me back in, and some more of my friends just bought it as well. I hope you have a good time with it, it’s possibly my favorite game of all time.
In my opinion Deep Rock Galactic is easily the best co-op shooter of all time, hands down.
Yes LFD 2 and Helldivers 2 are great, and if your preference is for those games or warhammer Vermintide or whatever, fair enough, but I think from a game mechanics standpoint Deep Rock Galactic is a nearly flawless game. The guns all feel chunky and great, the verticality is SUPERB, the movement mechanics for the scout class have a ridiculously high skill ceiling, the tunneling mechanics are mindblowing just by themselves in the way they deepend combat and tactics, the ambiance is KILLER especially given the relatively simple but still attractive graphics, the Devs are super chill and release cosmetic DLCs so everyone can get new content… the list just goes on and on
I don’t think people are ever going to get sick of it, I am confident you are always going to be able to find co-op lobbies to hop onto far into the future.
I agree. I think the way that different terrain changes combat is key, and when combined with the players ability to shape terrain (especially with the driller or engi) has created a system that can constantly feel fresh for combat.
I’ve put a lot of hours into different coop shooters, but DRG is my most played steam game (675 hours) and still feels fresh.

Balatro and Balatro. It’s so good
Completed my first run today!
So far just Juno: New Origins
I’ve been mostly playing:
- Noita
- Deep Rock Galactic
- Oxygen Not Included
Will pick up Juno when I get a chance to play when I’m not dead tired.
Deep Rock Galactic
Since a few people already mentioned it in this thread, are you playing it on Deck? It’s one of the main games I play with a few buddies regularly but I always found it to be a bit cumbersome on a handheld but maybe that’s because I generally dislike fps with a controller (even if using gyro).
Make sure to bind jump, grapple and other important movement buttons to rear buttons so you dont have to take your thumbs off the joysticks to use them (think bumper jumper control scheme from halo).
I am perfectly comfortable playing multiplayer competitive shooters with joysticks and gyro, fine aim control is a breeze with gyro for me and really the disadvantage playing on the deck is a framerate and screen size issue, otherwise i can be competitive even in a game like Xonotic (possibly the most fast paced, aim heavy shooter period) with joysticks+gyro.
I play battlebit, operation harsh doorstop, xonotic, halo infinite (with autoaim off), polygon, dayz deathmatch servers, easy red 2… etc and my aim is fine. Hipfire is a blast with gyro, actually just aiming in general is a blast with gyro and joysticks. Also in shooters with vehicles, using a controller to fly helicopters, planes and even just drive trucks and tanks absolutely CRUSHES mouse and keyboard, it isnt even close how I can fly circles around a mouse and keyboard player in a fighter plane in Easy Red 2. They just can’t manuever in the slight barrel rolls and smooth rotations that you can pull off in your sleep with a gamepad. Also if the vehicle has a non-binary throttle and brake gamepads just have a systematic advantage that mouse and keyboard can never truly compete with in that area. Of course most shooters are designed for mouse and keyboard so they don’t shrugs.
I grew up playing halo 1-3 and cod4 type games on xbox, so I am very comfortable with playing shooters with a gamepad, and gyro is a dream come true because it eliminates the extremely frustrating issue of fine aim control with joysticks. So for me, I have already put in years and years getting familiar with playing fast paced shooters with controllers/gamepads, similarly I bet you have put in years and years getting familiar with mouse and keyboard!
I say all of this not to say you are wrong, maybe joysticks+gyro isn’t your thing and that is fine, but it is a comfort and preference barrier limiting you here, not an inherent limitation to joysticks+gyro.
I bought FH4 since they announced it’ll be delisted by the end of the year. I’ve previously played it a lot via gamepass, but despite the fact that it doesn’t have Cross-Progression with the Steam version I still bought it on Steam so I could play it on Steam deck. Medium settings run at 60fps!
Other than that my backlog is big enough that I will abstain from the sale. Recently finished The Werecleaner (short and funny free game) and Black Mesa. Now playing CrossCode, FEZ and Nightmare Kart.
FH4?
Forza Horizon 4 - I had to search to the acronym
Ah, thanks
It is like Motor Town but only focused on lame rich people supercars and suvs :P
