I see these dead on the beaches of Taiwan. My 5 year old son picked one up and brought it to me and I almost had a heart attack. Luckily he picked it up on a part that didn’t have stingers.
Isn’t it one of the species that will kill you with the sting?
You’re thinking of irukandji. Bluebottles will sting like an absolute bastard but you’d have to be pretty unlucky to be killed by one.
Edit: apparently there have been fatal stings in the northern hemisphere.
