KFC hasn’t been good in like 25 years. The last time I had it, my chicken leg was mushy. Like soft like flan or something. How do you make meat soft? Also, all I could taste was grease. That was in 2009 and I haven’t had it since. Anyway, I don’t think changing beverages will help that.

If you haven’t had it in 17 years, I don’t think you’re qualified to talk about the quality over time

I actually happen to know KFCs processes from 2009. They were breading and cooking the chicken in-house still back then

Workers would take the chicken, toss it in dredge, egg wash, then breading, before going to the fryer

If your chicken was soft, it was probably an abcess that a minimum wage employee missed

Super greasy was standard. They’ve fixed that a bit, but everything else has gone way downhill. They no longer prep in-house, and it really shows

I remember KFC as a kid and I thought it was decent the few times I had it, but then…I was a kid in a very rural area and we didn’t eat out very often.

Then I had some in the late 90s and I thought it was so disgusting, I never went back. The co-workers I went there with (I forget why we even went since there were better options - maybe it was about trying to get something really fast) all compared what we got to rat meat…

I’ve been vegetarian the past 20+ years so obviously it’s a no-go now anyway, but I think it’s been pretty bad for a very long time.

The late-90s/early-2000s seems to be when the drop-off was. If I’m getting fast food fried chicken these days I’m going for Popeye’s or Church’s. But the “knows ball” move with fried chicken is to get it from a local grocery store. The G&W a couple of blocks from my house has legitimately good fried chicken.
