This is the issue with being a TOOL fan. Nothing sounds quite like it. And Russian Circles is another favorite, but the algorithms are just like “this is clearly metal (it’s not) so we’ll put a bunch of screamy metal in your playlists that you’ll obviously love” (screaming is annoying unless it’s sparsely placed for emphasis)
I recently switched from Spotify to Qobuz and while I do like Qobuz, it lacks a block artist feature, making their playlists hit or miss.
I always thought that rishloo was fairly tool-like. In some ways, at least. Not a 1:1 thing, ofc. Wheel also scratches that itch. And altho it’s quite different, katatonia also fits in some ways. Depends what you’re looking for.
Ugh, yes, the inability to block artists or songs is so annoying. I don’t understand why they don’t have this feature, it seems like it shouldn’t be too hard to implement

To be fair, TOOL is fairly unique. Maynard is at least more mainstream with A Perfect Circle.

Another commenter mentioned Maynard has A perfect circle, but he also has Puscifer. Danny Carey also has Volto.
Also with checking out the band Soen, they’re very tool like
