A POLITICO reporter was denied access to the White House Thursday and his press credentials confiscated after a judge ordered the Trump administration overnight to immediately restore access for news organizations that President Donald Trump banned from the complex last week.
MS NOW and CNN said their reporters were also denied entry. The three outlets have been barred from the White House since Saturday, following an order from Trump to do so “as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!”
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly granted a temporary restraining order early Thursday morning mandating that the administration restore the organizations’ access for at least two weeks while further litigation plays out.
This looks bad, and it is secret service doing dumb illegal stuff instead of Trump shouting insanity at the courts in tweets, afaik.
My guess is GOP political operation inside WH. They want to keep Trump off camera/mic, because the last few weeks, have been especially off the rails dementia, likely age related. Fox was told to protest it to shut off overall camera foot in mouth appearances.
Maybe GOP wants to keep China visit off camera?
At the same time, this is the worst time to show petty fascism over nothing, because I don’t understand the voter appeal for it, though backlash motivation is amplified significantly. Very hard to make sense.
