If you’ve ever noticed that industrial buildings use tall smoke stacks, you know why. It’s because that smoke dispersed into the atmosphere @ 50m will be diluted to safe(er/ish) levels by the time it reaches ground level.
Now if you’re trying to release a pathogen or a drug, doing so at 19,000m is the kind of stupid that wears a helmet to watch TV.
Why wouldn’t lasers work in space??
To my understanding, (I’m not a physicist) It’s not so much that they wouldn’t work in space as they’d be severely weakened upon entering our atmosphere. It would be both cheaper and more effective to simply use a conventional explosive than it would be to invent a sci-fi super weapon.
