Besides the hypocrisy, if it was her staffers there is a power dynamic there that makes it inherently non-consensual.

Adults or not. Imagine if your boss came on to you. Even if you liked them and thought it’s something you wanted to do, they still hold “power” over you: “will I be denied a promotion if I say no?”, “will I be fired if I break up with them?”, “will I get this promotion if I sleep with them?”.

Even if it’s consenting, the fact they they can have a direct impact on your job means that it is not an equitable situation that is of mutual consent. That’s why companies have rules about dating in the workplace or nepotism.

Those rules are often ignored. Many people meet their SO at work and there is nothing wrong with that.

“Meeting their SO” buries the lede. There’s a difference between that and what it’s someone in your direct reporting chain that you have control over / control over you. I’m not talking about two people in different departments. Generally HR doesn’t care about that. But reporting structures lead to lawsuits.

And just because it’s ignored, doesn’t mean it’s right. That’s like saying “she was only slightly drunk, so it doesn’t matter”

Yes, because willing should be the deciding factor if you are in a position of power like boss or coach over someone else. I get the icks just thinking about it.
