I thought it was funny to take songs that I find earworms, think “I’ll never be royal” or “Hello,” and I listened to each back to back. I honestly thought they’d cancel each other out. The winner took over for weeks. It sucks.

Think of the ending of the song. Let it conclude soundly in your head. If you don’t know the ending, you can imagine a big dramatic ending. It let’s your brain stop the loop.

Wild, the only one of those I find even a bit catchy is royals, the other two aren’t my jam at all, so they aren’t sticky for me.
And royals isn’t something that gets earwormy for me, usually. I have other stuff. Like kid’s Christmas songs. If I never hear frosty the snowman ever again…

I’ve had some success in transmitting my earworms to friends at work. I tend to get silly things like the brady bunch or puff the magic dragon in my head. By singing them at someone else I have managed to exorcise the worm and share the ‘joy’.
