If you’re in the US, this ProPublica piece is well worth reading. Lots of problems with our system of quality control for generics.
Yeah I found this out a month or so ago when my generic adderall didn’t feel like it worked at all except to give me headaches.
Ended up having to dissolve and filter a dose through a coffee filter and then drink it (slowly) to get any typical effects and avoid the headache side effect.
Then the next refill—which looked exactly the same and came from the exact same manufacturer—worked just as intended without need for the water process. (I found this out after dissolving one of the new ones and feeling like only a few sips were too much lol).
So yeahh anyway turns out even the same company might produce meds with significantly different dosages across batches and there’s little to no regulation. Gotta love playing russian roulette with medication every month. Will it work? Will it just give me anxiety and not help with ADHD symptoms at all? Will it kick in and fade too fast? Will it give me headaches? All three at once? Who knows? Certainly not me and not the FDA either apparently.
