steam+proton is a better software distribution method for games than anything else linux has got going on. Game devs hate having to build their games six different ways for different distros with 0.5% market share each.
I’m just wondering why they don’t use flatpak or appimage. statically compiled binaries that work on every/ most Linux distributions, wouldn’t that alleviate the problems of packaging and compatibility?
