    If you were wondering why fires follow roads — the article says it’s because people.

    Firebreaks cut into forests help control wildfire outbreaks, so you’d think roads going through forests would have a similar effect. But roads (unlike firebreaks) give people ready access to forests. And people are careless and one of the main causes of fires.

      Word choice there is confusing and poor. Probably intentionally so. “Follow” suggests some sort of movement. But they’re just saying that fires happen near roads. Because people are near roads.
