It’s possibly better than In the Pale Moonlight to take the 2nd place spot
behind Far Beyond the Stars. I’ve seen it a fair few times but it hits really
hard during that last scene between Old Jake and his dad every single time. I
think DS9 has the most truly great episodes than all of the other series
combined. TOS has City of the Edge of Forever and TNG’s Family and The Inner
Light are bangers but still aren’t on the same level as DS9’s greats. It’s just
a shame Voyager and Enterprise didn’t get any episodes to add to the list of
epic stories.
Easily DS9’s best episode, and it has little to do with the Dominion or Section 31 or even the Prophets/Pah-Wraiths. Runner up to my favorite Trek episode ever, the other one being The Offspring from TNG.

I still put Far Beyond the Stars in the top spot.
The Offspring is a powerful episode but I think The Inner Light is TNG at it’s very best.
The Inner Light is good, but I respectfully disagree with the consensus that it’s TNG’s best.
It’s a close call between The Inner Light and Measure of a Man with The Offspring in 3rd and Family a very close 4th.
