We still don’t know how much of Oblivion they actually recreated, considering it’s rumored to be made in UE5 which is a completely different engine. I’m most worried about open world and “immersive” elements such as Radiant AI and NPC schedules, proper wildlife AI, etc.

That’s what I’m thinking as well.

Why remaster Oblivion now? Why not wait after Elder Scrolls VI? I’m sure that’ll be released this century.

My theory is getting more engineers familiar with the unified UE5 and Gamebryo. This has likely been in the works before ESVI was the primary focus for the bulk of the team and many of those engineers were reassigned to ESVI as this neared completion.

That’s nice…wonder how much the growing excitement for the Skyblivion project and the progress they’ve been making influenced Bethesda’s decision to remaster Oblivion. My guess is that they caught wind a while back, saw people were interested, and decided that there’s enough interest to churn out a “quick” remaster, try and beat Skyblivion to completion, and milk the cash cow dry.
It’ll almost certainly be a muddy sepia, soulless, bugged to all fuck travesty. Hope the Skyblivion team is able/allowed to complete the project. I’d be super angry if they were sent a cease and desist…

I’ve heard rumblings it’s actually to test out the upcoming move from Gamebryo/Creation to Unreal.

Easier to task a smaller team to take the current state of the UE5 framework for TES games and recreate an existing game (i.e. concept and content complete) and get feedback early so TES6 can learn from it while they are still in development.

I literally can’t tell if you’re trying to be sarcastic because you’ve read any of a huge number of articles about the leaks, or completely ignorant of them and just happened to get everything completely opposite on accident…

This remaster is only going to be worth is if it’s actually using Unreal Engine 5. Otherwise you might as well just wait for Skyblivion or just mod the original yourself and get more stable performance thanks to the community patches.

When Zenimax sends the C&D next week this will look like a very foolish olive branch attempt.

There’s Skyblivion and similiar for Elder Scrolls and A Tale of two Wastelands for Fallout. Is there more awesomeness i didn’t know about?
