  • I really need prescription lenses for the Frame, but am hesitating on which to buy.

Zenni is Steam’s recommendation, and was out of stock immediately, with no communication on future availability.

VR Optician seems like a safe choice quality wise, but it’s 3-4 weeks fabrication, then shipping from Germany and clearing customs. Also the most expensive option, but I want quality lenses and would be willing to pay appropriately. I’m just also impatient.

AMVR is on version 2. AMVR version 1 is the only lens I can find a review of, and it wasn’t favorable. The frames for the lenses for both versions are 3D printed, and apparently don’t mount very securely. I have a fairly large astigmatism in my dominant eye, so the lens potentially rotating a bit from where it is supposed to be is a significant downside.

VR-rock is suspicious. Using some pics from the quest, and not very clear about how they are mounted. For other headsets they have a magnetically mounted lens option, which I would go for, but it looks like that isn’t available for the Frame, at least right now.

Anybody who has already gotten a pair of Rx lenses?

  • Wasabi and radishes and mustard have a different chemical mechanism from peppers for their spice. I had a friend who grew up in India, and has basically no regard for capsaicin, over for dinner one night. We had some radishes out of our garden, and some of them were definitely on the hot side so I warned her. She scoffed and bit off half a good sized radish. She was soon downing iced tea to wash it away and said, oh my god, is that what spicy food is like for you? But capsaicin is oil based and doesn’t wash away so easily.
