  • Anecdotal, but I don’t think so. My many right wing family members that hated everything EV until the muskrat went full nazi still never actually bought an EV despite now loving everything about Elon. The closest thing to one any of them drive is a Prius and they acted like they were making the biggest concession to environmentalism by doing so, when really it was just because they couldn’t afford to drive everywhere they wanted to otherwise.

Dude, some of us need trucks, like actually hauling loads around several times a week, and it fucking sucks that there isn’t any choice in the design currently. Don’t key some poor souls car who’s just trying to make do with what’s available. Slate and Telo might actually save us here. I really can’t wait to “downgrade” to a Telo. I just hope they actually make it to market and succeed.

  • It’s a little more complex than that. But if you want to encrypt, and you do want your site traffic encrypted, you use site certificate to give the client browser proof that you are who you say you are. You do this by establishing a chain of trust: “I got this proof that I am who I say I am from this major trusted certificate authority” you trust them and they trust me, so we’re all good. You’ve probably seen the warning that a site isn’t secure, and that’s because they let their certificate of trust expire.

This low entropy key means it’s trivial for me to fake that I have that major authority’s trust. The browser needs to be updated to no longer trust that authority. Until it does I can easily fake being anyone and say that compromised site vouches for me. I don’t even need to be a man in the middle, I just need to set up a way that your browser sends you to my fake server instead of the real one. Lots of ways to do that.

  • Because I do think there is value in mid term, affordable, rentals. And coordinating that with a bunch of individually owned units and ensuring that some of them remain affordable seems like a near impossibility.

Might also be nostalgia for earlier days when not every apartment advertised “luxury units” and renting was way cheaper than buying. It’s what kids just out of high school did, or recent divorcees while they got back in their feet financially. Some oriole even preferred it so they didn’t have the responsibility of owning. Companies used to be decent stewards of multi family housing, I’m probably over optimistic that they could be again.
