  • I own one and these are the best arguments against:

    • much less upgradeable than a regular pc
    • still possible to build something much more performant for the same/less money especially if you compromise on size (although this is less true every day)
    • consoles still offer greater subsidized performance/dollar ratio

That said I love mine. I was nervous at first but even as a new release with some of the software kinks getting worked out it is still super low maintenance and has me playing more games than ever. I pulled the trigger based on my positive experience with the steam deck and I really do think it is a thoughtful, beautiful machine that is more than the sum of its (expensive) parts.

  • Slightly off-topic, but the only kind of interesting use for an NFT I ever encountered was my Master’s degree. The diploma was issued as a pdf that is also an NFT. There is a university website you can upload it to and it says “yup this is a real diploma” which in theory means the digital is as good as the physical.

So 99.9% of the time they were a scam but it was ALL worth it to have grad admissions committees tell me “neat but you will need to send us the paper copy anyway”

  • I think you are on the right track. Newswire services like AP and Reuters tend to have the least noticeable spin, but no news service is bias free. Best you can do is diversify your outlets and look at not just the narrative but now each outlet sources their claims (Who are they talking to? What data do they use to support their conclusions?)

I do not know much about HK news sources, but I follow some Taiwan-based outlets like Focus Taiwan (state-backed) and Taipei Times (largest English-language outlet). There is often coverage of HK and southeast Asia there but obviously more in how it relates to Taiwan. NHK in Japan may also be an option. Best of luck!

  • The closest English has is phrasal verbs like “I turned the light off” or "I went to pick the kids up. Generally verb+particle = new verb. Sometimes you can put a noun between the verb and particle but not always (I looked the toys for vs. I looked for the toys)

These are not just verbs plus postpositions as “I turned the light” and “I went to pick the kids” have entirely different meanings.
