I find that feed thing unusable, I had to make significant efforts for it to stop showing shorts, premium ads, channels I’m not interested in, AI generated stuff, games (there are games now on youtube…), and it still doesn’t show me anything worth watching. That’s kinda what I was trying to point to. Yes it is a lot of work to replicate the functionality, but apparently Valve has no intention of “plugging the hole” this data is coming from, and I’m not sure NexusMods would have any ability to torpedo any potential alternatives as they also depend on a third party. So if/when the original enshitifies it would be possible to move on to a new platform.

As for throttling of the VPN traffic from the ISP side, that’s hard to say. Theoretically it’s possible they are doing deep packet inspection to specifically target VPN traffic, which would work through different ports, but I’d think that’s overkill. Maybe they’re doing it by protocol and just throttling UDP traffic, which would be easier, but I don’t know how to confirm that with mullvad.
