  • I’m going to provide a potential explanation to this, but first I want to say this: I don’t doubt there are a number of influencers/personalities that lead to a Nazi view. It’s definitely more common. But…

No reasonable 18-30 year old would align themselves with the GOP. So they gravitate towards a place of power where they are accepted—with others that have fascist tendencies.

    1. Legal has issues with using existing libraries (including MIT). Definitely idiotic, but I can’t control that.
    2. Idea was mine.
    3. Subprocess that captures parent process active video with a rolling buffer for crash handling purposes is absolutely necessary when trying to reproduce issues in development (Gamedev editor). If you think associating the last 15s prior to a crash with a mindump isn’t helpful for debugging, I don’t know what to tell you.

  • I’m aware. Not always feasible. For example, had to add a custom video capture solution that captures the last 30 seconds of a process for crash handling purposes.

You most definitely need to do add that much comments explaining the mp4 box format along with the box “hierarchy” of what is being written. Add to that MFT (h264 encode) code…

Basically, if anything, the comments are for me for when I look back at that code.

  • First: I agree that plasma “donation” centers are 100% exploitative.

Plasma is 100% needed, though. My son wouldn’t be alive today without the countless plasma transfusions he got during chemo when his counts dropped.

It all sort of sucks across the board. This paints China as exploiting the US, but realistically, the idea of us giving those in need plasma isn’t a bad thing—it’s just the grubby money exchanging that’s the problem.

  • 25yr GameDev here. AI Prototype? Yes. Long-term code? Oh hell no. And this is me speaking as somebody that uses Opus 4.8 heavy all the time.

It speeds up dev time slightly. If you are finding that it speeds dev time significantly, you are 100% taking on tech debt (dare I say complete and utter spaghetti).

It generates code okay, but it does not make it anywhere near maintainable.

  • Claude has a place for simple tasks. It does a great job of being an “advanced find in files” or being a “smart boilerplate generators” but anything remotely more complex and the issues start to show, really quickly. When writing new prototype code, it does very well. But when you have to handle all sorts of edge cases, it doesn’t do it as well. It also doesn’t do a good job with debugging anything more than surface level. Opus does slightly better, but even then gets into the frequent “I found the issue! oh wait, that’s fine. I found the issue! Oh wait, that’s fine” loop over and over again.

And before you ask: Yes, I’ve been using Copilot CLI for work pretty regularly for the past couple months.

Aside: It doesn’t help that the true token costs are off by a factor of 100-1000. Yes, I know general reporting is saying the breakeven is 10x, but…well, you’ll have to trust me that’s not accurate.
