  • Help me, please! My gripe with games that force me into “starting over” is that they suddenly aren’t fun.

Does this do it better? I’m tempted to buy it based on this conversation but I’m worried I’ll drop it within 20 minutes because of my preference for progression.

For reference, I can’t stand Souls games because of the “lose everything” mechanic. Yet I’ll start a New Game+ for a game I really enjoyed. I suppose it helps if I get to keep stuff from my previous playthrough.

  • I’m like you and I do this to counteract my behavior: I force myself to play the game as it comes.

My promise to myself is that when I make it to the ending, I’ll go back on New Game+ or on a fresh run to collect things on a completionist run.

What I’ve found is that few games are good enough to make me come back and finish again just for collectibles.

Over time, it’s rewired my habits and now I have way more fun just organically playing games.
