It’s such a weird decision for these devices, why purposefully gimp your product?
Because it’s a safer bet than using SteamOS, all games are developed for Windows and you don’t depend on another rival company for a game to run on your device.
You don’t need SteamOS you can use any other distro
It gives you better battery life and performance
You can also use your own implementation of Wine
And saying all games are on Windows is just incorrect
Why would you crowdfund for a device that’s either the same or worse than anyone else makes, depending on your preferences?
Because by crowdfunding, you can ensure that it’ll take longer to make than the competitor’s next generation.
A good chunk are buyers who are going to put it on their shelf next to their Deck and Retroids.
